Trip to L&D...

8:00 AM:  We called Dr B's office this morning to let the nurse know about yesterday's experience with contractions.  We had to leave a message with the reception staff.  I'm feeling better this morning, just a little cramping, but no contractions.

2:30 PM:  Called Dr B's office again and had to leave another message.  I just started having contractions again.

4:30 PM:  My husband called to check on me and I told him I was having more contractions.  They aren't as steady and regular as they were last night.  I'll have one, then have another about 30 minutes later, then another one about 1 hour later, then another 15 minutes later.  They're just all over the place.  He was unhappy that the OB's office hadn't called back yet, so he called.  He too had to leave a message with reception.

4:45 PM:  Our nurse in Dr B's office called me.  She was upset because she was just given my messages.  She said that Dr B is on call and is currently at the hospital, so she told us to go to L&D to be evaluated.  My husband came home and carried me.

We got to L&D and they put me on the monitors.  The nurse I had was extremely nice.  She was great about explaining everything to me and my husband.  She checked my cervix and said it is high and closed but soft.  She also said she's let Dr B know how things were going.  I had several small contractions while I was there and one good one.  She was able to pick them up on the monitor, so that made me feel less crazy.  Dr B came in and said that the contractions were to be expected and as long as they aren't causing cervical changes it would be alright.  Again, being caused by Roy!  He still wanted my blood and urine checked.

Toco Monitor straps around the belly to measure heartbeat and contractions

Toco Monitor reads heartbeat, contractions, and more!

Once all results came back good, he let me go home.  We were there for hours, but were glad we were able to go home.  The nurse told me that if ever I was trying to reach my OB and couldn't get the nurse, to just go to their office and tell reception that I need to be seen.  She said that evenings and weekends I can come see them and they'd be more than happy to check me.  She basically said the same things Dr H did last week.  She apologised for the nurse on the phone last night and said that with my condition and only being 22 weeks along, it's important for me to be checked if I have 4 or more contractions within an hour.  She also went over other warning signs to look for that would make it necessary for me to be seen immediately.

We're home, exhausted, and ready to lay down.  These contractions, and stress no doubt, have worn me out!
