The baby is now measuring 15 weeks and is weighing in at a whopping 4 oz. They aren't able to see if we're having a boy or a girl yet, but they're hoping they'll be able to tell us at our next scheduled visit (August 10th). They have labeled me high risk due to having multiple miscarriages and because of the size and location of this fibroid. Dr. B wants to start me on a shot, hydroxy-progesterone, which is meant to help prevent preterm labor. He's planning to start this at our next scheduled visit on August 10th.
The fibroid has my uterus measuring in at 19 weeks - Eek! He said today that I'll definitely need to have a c-section, but that it's possible they can remove the fibroid at the same time as the c-section. He said he won't be able to remove it if the large vessels that run through the uterus are also running through the fibroid. The bleeding risks would be too high for him to remove it in that case, so I'd have to return to Duke for them to remove it after delivery. We're hoping and praying that the vessels aren't in the area of the fibroid and Dr. B can take it out when he goes in for the baby.
Dr. B also said that I need to prepare myself for the idea of bed rest, that it's looking more and more likely that it's in my near future. I'm trying to avoid that as long as possible.
Good news is that baby is still looking wonderful! In fact, he/she is so active, that's why they couldn't get a good look between the little active legs :)
