Wow, I can't believe I am actually blogging! LOL I hope I don't one day regret this :)
So, it's been a long 34 months of trying to conceive (TTC). The first 12 months, we were not exactly "trying" as much as we weren't trying to prevent. Then, after 12 months and no baby, we decided to ask our OB if there was a problem. At first, he just encouraged us to keep trying. He said that most couples will conceive after 9 months of trying, and since I had been on birth control and hormones (for ovarian cysts) for so long, it may take a little while longer for my body to get back to normal. After another year of that, we went back to the OB. He then recommended taking our basil body temperature (BBT) every morning. Apparently this would tell him a lot!
We temped for a year, and used ovulation predictor kits (OPKs). I never got a positive ovulation on the OPK. After the OB looked over a few of my charts, he realized I wasn't ovulating. Hmm... wonder how that happened. Maybe the years of hormones he had me on to stop the cyst and endometriosis growth??? I don't know. No wonder I wasn't getting any big fat positive (BFP) pregnancy tests!
Now I'm a temping QUEEN! LOL
A breakdown of our TTC to this point:
Cycles 1 - 12: TTC on our own - No BFPs
Cycles 12 - 26: Taking BBT's and using ovulation predictor kits (OPK's) - No BFPs
